I took this photo of my plant because I liked it. That’s all.

I have been really bad at blogging for many reasons, but primarily because I have been doing the most insane thing - working on my TikTok account. Why? Because I am tired of people telling me that writing now involves a “following.” Really? UGH.

As if we all have time for it! Not just time to make videos but planning and thought, as well as getting over the utter embarrassment of being someone who “has a TikTok.”

I can only imagine how many people have stumbled across it and thought, “YIKES.”

Well, you get over that pretty quickly, and most people are very kind on the platform as a whole. I feel lucky so far in that regard. I have had a few haters but you delete and block them and move on…cheering yourself up with videos of men chopping wood or reciting poetry in Scottish accents.

Yes, these are both things that exist.

I have also discovered some amazing creators and learned a ton about a variety of topics. Lots of pros!

So, aside from the cringe, it’s ok. Do I wish it would blow up and I’d get a call from a literary agent saying, “Wow, we can’t wait to represent you and publish all your books!”

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fantasize about it. Likelihood? Very low.

But you get nothing if you don't try, right? At least that’s what I tell my kids. I guess the rules need to apply to me also.

So here’s a little shoutout to anyone and everyone who is avoiding doing something new because it’s scary and embarrassing - who cares? Go for it.

I read this quote recently and it pretty much says it all:

“You are too silly to fear the shame of being silly while trying.”
Kangoma Kindembo

So go be silly! GO!
